INTEREST RATES – The Federal Reserve, confronted with a global stock sell-off fanned by increased fears of a recession, slashed a key interest rate by three-quarters of a percentage point today and indicated further rate cuts are likely.

HOMEOWNERSHIP – As an investment, a home requires more than a good cleaning now

and then. New homeowners should follow a regular maintenance schedule to keep repair costs down and to maximize their profit when it’s time to sell.

REAL ESTATE MARKET – Warm-weather states like Florida will see growth in the next two decades as millions of aging baby boomers will put their homes on the market, putting downward pressure on prices on real estate values in cold-weather states.

ECONOMY – Is the U.S. heading toward a recession – and does it matter? Whether an actual recession is on the way or already here, U.S. consumers and businesses are increasingly squeezed by a downturn; though for some, tougher times may mean opportunities. The question now: Is how long would a recession last – if we look at history, since World War II, it has been only ten months.
